Can I trial Placement Centre?

Can inPractice import my current documents or connect to our existing system?

inPractice uses industry standards where ever possible so it's very likely that whatever you currently use we can either interface directly with it or import your data from it. This could be anything from Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, Access Databases or your organisation wide Admission and Registry database. We'll also work with you to ensure that the data you currently have, in whatever format, is imported correctly to help reduce any extra data entry.

What are the system requirements to use Placement Centre?

Since Placement Centre is hosted on our servers, there's nothing to install and no server/platform requirements to worry about. All you need is a modern web browser with Javascript turned on (Placement Centre officially supports IE6 or later on the PC, Firefox on Mac, PC, Linux, and Safari on Mac) and an internet connection. Placement Centre does not support IE 5.x on the Mac or PC although you may find that it works we can not provide help and support for it. If you have IE 5, we recommend switching to Firefox — it's modern, fast, compatible, and free.

Can I specify which staff, students and educators see which screens?

Yes. Placement Centre features a powerful permissions system that allows you to set permission on a per-user basis. For example, if you want your secretaries to see read-only views of placement timetables we can do just that.

What about privacy, security, and confidentiality?

We take great care to protect our customers' information. Access to the service is available via the Secure Sockets Layer over HTTPS. Though we offer safeguards to protect your data, please keep in mind that you should take appropriate measures with your passwords, and user accounts.

Will my Placement Centre site look like my University's identity?

You can customize your Placement Centre site with your University's name, colours and logo of your choice. Our design team can also integrate it into your current web platform for a seamless experience.

We've already been using a small database can I use the existing records with Placement Centre?

Yes, we can help transfer any existing records over in to your new Placement Centre powered system.

Can I get my data out if I want to discontinue using Placement Centre?

Yes, you can easily export all your messages and comments in XML & CSV format at any time. We'll do everything we can to make the transition away from Placement Centre a pleasant one - but we hope to keep you happy enough to stay!
