A Quick Note On Expositions

I love expositions. They can create a sense of place, purpose and
velocity in a single screen. Rick Dangerous always springs to mind
when thinking about this subject. And so do those classic 80’s video
games like Final Fight, Bad Dudes Vs Dragon Ninja, etc.

Of course, these are slightly weak when comparing to the opening sequences of something like the sensational GTA series, Bioshock or those wonderful, almost silent, long flights in World of Warcraft but the dramatic effect is the same. To transport the player into the confines of the game world, make you forget temporarily about boring stuff like work and hopefully keep you there, having fun.

Here’s how some other classics did it with the little they had.
